Silloth dunes.
Meanwhile, back in a cold, damp and windy Cumbria - tried to find a sheltered walk with flowers to photo - found the flowers but not the shelter so not ideal photographic conditions! Rocky enjoyed himself though - plenty of rabbit holes!

A long walk to bring back some heavy buoys. They look great when they're lacquered and carefully positioned in the flower bed!

Despite the best attempts of the weather we managed some photos! It was cool and cloudy, but the orchids were splendid and at least we - well mum- found a marsh fritillary.

First Gold Swift
The first gold swift of the year - beautifully fresh in the warm sunny evening light. Looking forward to seeing our small, but thriving, population lekking ( pre-mating courtship dance based on pineapple scented pheromones). This was a male - not yet active as there were no females out yet.

Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester.
Lovely to see this superb building renovated and open to the public - free of charge. Fantastic pieces of Liberty woven fabrics; many Ruskin and Turner watercolours; Bridget Riley op art; Lucien Freud portraits and Graham Sutherland watercolours...a good day out - didn't spend too long there as we had to stock up with naan breads and spices - not to mention squashing Molly and all her stuff into the car.
Lucian Freud; Peter Blake and William Morris. |
Carn Llidi, Pembrokeshire - Graham Sutherland. |
